ROAD TRIP!

We had planned to leave around 9am and ended up leaving around 11ish ... you just can't imagine the amount of STUFF needed for a road trip with an 18 month old child. You might as well rent a small U-Haul. Actually ... that's not a bad idea for next year!

Since we had very little extra space in our car, the only thing we had with us to help navigate the roads was a TEENY-TINY, Mapquest map ... about 4 inches square! (Shhh ... don't tell my grandma! She would be most seriously displeased!) But getting to Colorado Springs seemed easy enough ... that is until we hit Snowflake, Az and decided not to stop because we weren't hungry yet and JHB was still sleeping. Next up ... Springerville. Apparently, we were never supposed to get to Springerville. About 50 miles past Springerville (and a few thunderstorms later), Ben thinks that we have missed our turnoff. NICE! Thankfully, we arrived in the smallest town this side of creation and Ben got out at the Post Office to ask for directions. I WISH I HAD A PICTURE ... imagine a western movie, man sitting in the window of a small stone building, back turned, wearing a cowboy hat ... he informed Ben that we missed our exit by 80 some miles but HAVE NO FEAR ... take a quick right, a quick left and we'd hit I-40 in about a hundred miles! Not sure I'd buy property in Quemado, New Mexico ... but we're very thankful to the man in the cowboy hat for getting us on the right track!

A scenic view from our OUT OF THE WAY short cut to Albuquerque!

ARE WE THERE YET?
