Can Somebody Give Me Back My Twenty-Three Month Old?

What a difference a month makes ... 30-some little days. And somewhere in the mix ... my sweet little J How got snatched up by the "Terrible Two Monsters" and has been having way too much fun exerting his will.

Let's have a glimpse at the past 48 hours ...

J How is trying to fix a piece of train track that has been unhooked from the station. I hear him saying, "Oh man ... oh man." I walk in ... "J How, can I help you?" I make certain not to touch anything because heaven forbid you actually offer your help and TOUCH SOMETHING ... but I show J How where the pieces go to make it work. He looks at me and says "Bye bye!" Okay - so my help was apparently not needed there.

And then there are the melt-downs ... every little thing ... walking up the stairs, putting on his shoes, taking off his shoes, brushing his teeth, what to eat/what not to eat .... you push a door shut and that's a mistake. You leave a door open and that's still the wrong move. He wants to open the umbrella inside because it's raining (inside??) and you tell him it's really not raining and it's as though the world is slowly coming to a halt.

And if you're not proficient at super multi-tasking ... you're also in trouble. My favorite was this morning, as we were listening to pirate music ... he was shaking his maracas and was distracted enough for me to feed Eli ... when he spotted his guitar and insisted that I play. Pirate music? Maracas? Guitars? It's enough to send a person to check themselves in for serious therapy.

Ahhh ... and then I take him to the Az Museum for Youth today ... just to escape our house and see other human life and he's running around the place yelling ... "Mom ... I luv you!" And another gals comments ... "He is just precious!"

That's TWO for you ... you never know what you're going to get!

And my camera is MIA ... so unfortunately all of these precious meltdown moments have gone undocumented. But, lucky for me ... I'm sure there will be plenty more :)

  1. Now throw an almost 4-year-old into the mix...who constantly wants to steal Mr. Meltdown's stuff. I'm feeling your pain...

  2. Do you want to tell you that 3 has been way harder than 2? Someone recommended keeping suckers in the diaper bag for halting or atleast reducing the intensity of those 2 year old moments in publc places. When I had a newborn and a 2 year old I never left home without checking my stash :)
