Joshua: "Can we PLEASE go outside?"
Me: "Sure. But your might melt!"
Eli: "Need shoes. Hot. Feet."
Twenty seconds outside and they're done.
Joshua: "I can't play out there. My head is sweating."
Me: "
Ahh. The first sign of melting. Everybody inside!"
I then open the fridge and invite the family to cool off. Have I mentioned how much I love Arizona summers? Love, love, love them.
We spend the next few minutes brainstorming all the indoor activities ...
Joshua: "We could put our jackets on and be fireman."

And with that ... they marched upstairs and started rescuing all sorts of things ... cats stuck in toy boxes, cars high atop bookshelves ...

How thinks rescuing Eli is a good idea ... however, Eli isn't so impressed.
Me: "How. It's probably best that you stick to rescuing things that don't wiggle."

So ... they service the firetrucks. Eli feeds them fish crackers.

Perhaps if he ate them himself ... he'd get a tad bigger? At his 18
th month appointment that came 3 months late (... spring in our house was BUSY!) ... his pediatrician got excited that he gained a percentage point in his weight. 8
th percentile. 22.6 pounds. So weight gain is obviously not his thing ... but he did pass the "How Many Words Can He Say" test.
Doctor: "About how many words does he say?"
Me: "Quite a few. I'm not really sure though ... fifty or sixty?"
Doctor: "Does he say things like ball and Mommy?"
Me: "Yep. And last week, he ran around the house with a block yelling, SATELLITE!"

Joshua wanted to make sure I got a picture of the firetruck. "I'll stand to the side. Just make sure you get his eyes looking at you." I show How the picture. "I'm a little disappointed." "Why?" "I'm disappointed you only got one eye. You need to take another one."

And finally ... a picnic lunch on firetruck plates ... and two boys who were super ready for a great snooze!
I have great empathy for you as you might for us 6 months from now. Come visit us! It's the most gorgeous weather. Hey Thad caddied at the Iowa Open last week and met someone who knows Ben - Rohan Tesdale or something like that?
ReplyDeleteJust a thought - is your garage really hot too? In the frozen tundra months we back the cars out of the garage, close the door, then let the kids ride their bikes and go crazy to burn off some energy.
ReplyDeleteCOME VISIT US AGAIN!!!
ReplyDeleteHigh 80's-low 90's in the day and 60's at night!!

ReplyDeleteOh, Kers. The garage is almost worse.
Carrie, are all of your days themed? Because I love you for that. What is Thursday's theme? I need one.
Caleb loves looking at pics of the boys while sitting on my lap!
