Step 1. Locate a lovely Paula Deen children's cookbook ... amidst the chaos of the pantry.

Step 2. Read through the illustrated directions. My favorite part of the whole book!

Step 3. Find willing play dough making participants.

Step 4. Be sure those participants are well fed prior to beginning the process or a meltdown is likely.

Step 5. Add all ingredients.

Step 6. Move the project to the stove ... cook and stir.

Step 7. Take play dough to the table and ...

Step 8. Watch your children play ... IN PEACE ...

For a solid hour.

Step 9. Find someone besides yourself to clean the play dough pans. (I should have warned Eli ahead of time I was given that job to him ...)
