Ahh. The rehearsal. By the time I got married, I had already been a bridesmaid 10 times.... (I believe my fun has now ended at lucky number 14), so ... I knew the drill. Make it short. Make it sweet and go someplace yummy for dinner.
To be fair, we might have picked
the LONGEST song in the history of songs to be sung but ... the gal who is singing is my friend
CCP (really, I'm not hiding her identity ... that's just what we all called her) ... and I believe the three verses of the longest song that she sang (at the rehearsal and again at the wedding) gave my brother ample time to recognize that he liked
CCP .... and well, to make a long story short ... they got married 3 years later.

Clearly ... not every groomsman was having the best time. From the looks on their faces, they're wondering how much longer could it possibly take to get the show on the road and EAT DINNER!

But look at me ... the planner ... solving the world's problems with Matt ... (if you fast forward 7 years, we looked just about the same when he drove in from MN to paint our house in February ... I take paint color very seriously!)

And just so the whole world can appreciate why I actually did discuss my hair with my counselor ... I give you Exhibit A:

What the bride looked like before all the professionals helped her out. I was ... should I use the word LUCKY? ... enough to have my cousin (who is now world famous for taking
this shot and
this shot) stay at my grandparent's house ... and well, photographers are never without their camera. Even if their cousin just rolled out of bed ... complete with crazy hair!

But I wasn't really focused on him (okay, yes I was ... and was sure hoping that he had a lens to make my hair look less huge but that obviously didn't happen) ... because my aunt (better known in our family as So Special
Sonna) and mom were steaming my dress. The first dress I tried on ... I fell in love with the flower. It added just the perfect amount of spunk! I still have the dress. Keep thinking I should cut off the flower and do something with it ... maybe put it somewhere in the girl child's room?
The dress was (is) just beautiful. I've never known someone who bought the first one she tried on...
ReplyDeleteYou could shorten it, dye it silver, and wear it to other people's weddings like Sherry @ yhl.com. No? Ok. I got married at SBC chapel too!!! (1998). We didn't have a cool door though.
