Just Call Me Sherlock Holmes ...

I've often wondered why my children, who came from two parents who thoroughly enjoy food, can't seem to pack on the pounds. According to the weight gain charts, you're supposed to triple your birth weight by your 1st birthday. Hmmm ... Joshua didn't triple his weight until he was 2 and a half and has yet to hit the thirty pound mark. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'd rather be carrying a 45 pound child down the stairs (although my biceps would look incredible!!) ... but I'd just like the kid's 2T clothes to fit him before he's twelve. A few weeks ago, I mistakenly put a pair of Eli's shorts on Joshua (6 month shorts) and they fit the poor kid! But perhaps I've found the problem. Perhaps the clue rests in the photo below ...
Maybe I need to get the J How a FULL size cone instead of the mini-version?? After all ... it's those extra calories that might get him out of the twenties ... once and for all!As for this one ... he had to get weighed yesterday, at the doctor's office, to make sure he was gaining weight! Do those checks look like he's lacking nutrients? Have no fear ... he gained a whopping 6 ounces in a month ... putting him at 18.3 pounds ... still in the 8th percentile! He's getting ice cream for lunch!!

  1. Oh, I completely understand...as Carissa is still hovering around 20-21 pounds. But Caleb on the other hand...he's a little bruiser!
LOVE those cheeks on little Eli.
    Miss you.

  2. OK..so I never realized how much Eli looked like you until I saw this picture. He is so cute, and regardless of how thin your kids are, they are adorable!
But speaking of weight...Josiah put on 12 oz. in 5 days, he up past his birth weight again...so thanks for all your advice, apparently it's helping :)

  3. You've seen Miles and my biceps - so maybe there isn't a corelation at all.

  4. Carrie, I was just thinking the other day that your blog is everything a mom's blog should be--clever, well-written, and able to give us a glimpse into your lives while being terribly entertaining.

My boys are string beans, too. Sometimes, I feel like I should eat an extra treat for them because it's what a good mom would do...
